The really absurb thing about that item about the Il Postino beach is that, while the film takes place in Italy in the 1950’s, the original novel on which the movie was based, by Chilean writer Antonio Skarmeta, takes place in Chile in the early 1970’s at the time of the military coup during which Pablo Neruda died. As far as I know, the beach in Italy has no connection with Neruda other than the fact that the movie was filmed there.

An English translation of Antonio Skarmeta’s novel was published some years back, under the title ‘A Burning Patience.”
