This is only in response to your bass poem note; I would normally not place a poem here, out of respect for your intentions with the blog; I offer it merely as a specimen.
Double Bass
(for H.S.)
The plucked notes of the bass
mimic my heartbeats and then
the bow draws out a long
low moan the way your hand does
drawn across my back.
Not definitive as a bass or Mingus poem, but perhaps you’ll like it.

Thank you so much for the William Matthews mp3! I love him so much, I’d go to Hades to bring him back, if I could. And he read my favorite of his, Mood Indigo.
